We believe in minimal data collection. When you use Kyro, we collect the following information:

  • Discord Information: We collect your Discord User ID, username, and avatar URL to identify your account and personalize your experience.
  • Conversation History: We store your chat messages to provide context to the AI during conversations, allowing for a more human-like experience.
  • Personalization Data: Information you voluntarily provide in the 'Settings' section (such as your bio, preferred response nature, and language).

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide and enhance the Kyro platform:

  • To authenticate your login via Discord OAuth2.
  • To send your prompts to third-party AI API providers for processing.
  • To maintain your conversational history across different sessions.
  • To limit excessive usage through our credit system.

3. Data Sharing with Third Parties

Our service relies on third-party AI models (e.g., OpenAI, LongCat, Hugging Face). When you send a message, it is processed by these external providers. While we do not "sell" your data to any third parties for advertising or profiling, we cannot guarantee the exact data retention policies of these external AI model providers.

4. Data Storage and Retention

Kyro is a student project, and we do not operate as a professional cloud storage service. We do not guarantee permanent storage of your information. Databases may be wiped during updates, migrations, if storage limits are reached, or upon the end of this project's experimental lifecycle.

5. Security

We use standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and session-based authentication. However, as independent student developers, we provide security on a best-effort basis. Users should avoid sharing highly sensitive or secret information with the bot.

6. Your Data Rights

You have full control over your conversational data on Kyro:

  • Clear All Chats: You can delete your entire conversational history with one click in the Settings menu.
  • Clear AI Memory: You can clear the AI's learned memory about you (bio/nature) at any time.
  • Logged-Out Status: Once you log out, your session is cleared from your browser.

7. Cookies and Local Storage

We use session cookies to keep you logged into your account and local storage to save your theme preferences (Dark/Light mode) and recent chatbot settings.
